Guatemalan Consulate Los Angeles: Authentications/Legalizations
The Consulate in Los Angeles services California, Hawaii, Nevada, and the Pacific Islands.
Your first step is to get your document/s notarized, county sealed (in states where applicable), and State Sealed (separate page attached) by the Secretary of State (Lt. Governor - Hawaii). Birth and marriage certificates may be either State Sealed (separate page attached) or authenticated by the Consulate without the State Seal (separate page). However, the PGN may request that either all the birth and marriage certificates are State Sealed or all are not State Sealed. The birth and marriage certificates should all be authenticated the same for your group of documents. If you are submitting for an adoption, your international adoption agency will be able to assist you and decide how the authentications should be processed.
Once the above steps have been completed, you can send the document/s to me to courier to the Consulate. Always send your documents by FedEX, ExpressMail, UPS, etc. (trackable service). I can courier your documents to the County Recorder and the Secretary of State. Please refer to the Other Services page.

- Consulate charges $10 per document for the next business day turnaround or possibly the same business day turnaround depending on the Consulate's workload.
- Courier fees are $75 for up to 5 documents and $105 for 6 documents or more.
Please include the following in your package:

Original document/s including the notary and State Seal pages.

Cashier's check or money order made payable to the Guatemalan Consulate.

Prepaid return airbill such as Fed Ex, Express mail, UPS, etc. (UPS Store account numbers will not be accepted. If using your UPS account number, your name and address must be in the sender's information.).
